Popular Markets in New Zealand

The market buzz in New Zealand is epic!! It seems the more techie society becomes, the more holistic and natural we crave!! Artisan markets are in. Farmers markets, craft markets...big, small, indoor or outdoor markets, night or day… we as a society are embracing handmade more than ever. Weekends aren't the same without a good wander around a market full of the promise of oven baked bread, chunky rich chutneys and crisp salad leaves fresh from the earth! Not to mention the intoxicating smell of coffee roasting in the early morning air! But for me it's more than that. It’s the people and the livelihoods standing behind those stalls. Good, honest, hardworking New Zealanders who spend their weeks crafting their trade by hand to support their families on the weekends. It’s raw and it's real!!

We've compiled a list of some of the most popular markets around the country, so you too can enjoy some of the very best arts, crafts, fashion and foods available. So go.....enjoy .... and support local!

Check the local links for days, times and stall holders in each area as some markets close down over winter or follow us on Insta, we feature markets every weekend.

You’re missing a lot of good ones from Wellington – Knack, The Pop Up Market, Wrought Makers’ Market, the Riverbank market in LH, and the Newtown Vintage Market spring to mind.
